It can always be said that any day spent fishing in the Great White North of Canada is better than the best day at the office. Who could ask for a better day than being on the lake out casting for those trophy sized Walleyed Pickerel or just even a plain old perch fish. The Walleye fish is the largest member of what be called or considered the “Perch” family. Oft called a “walleyed pike fish” or even a pickerel. However the Walleye fish family in truth is neither pike fish nor a pickerel in strict scientific ichthyologist terms. As specimens the largest giant varieties can grow as heavy in weight as 20 pounds (9 kg), although the most common catch is in the 1 to 3 lb ranges. A catch of 6 to 10 lbs is in the trophy class and classifications. These are the pride of many Manitoba “master anglers” and Northern Ontario trophy fisherman.
